Fiber and pulp production at Lenzing: closing loops and driving change

From forest to fiber, we recognize that every production activity has potential for environmental impacts. That’s why we’ve engineered manufacturing processes to enable circular flows of materials and energy. Our advanced chemical recovery systems return substances to production or transfer them into valuable goods instead of releasing them into the environment. Water − essential for fiber production − receives appropriate treatment before returning to natural waterways. At our biorefinery sites in Lenzing (Austria), Paskov (Czech Republic), and Indianópolis (Brazil), we use or even sell excess energy from pulp production, if possible. As a result, these biorefineries can operate energy self-sufficiently.

Lenzing’s commitment to responsible use of resources extends to our whole supply chain. We actively protect ancient and endangered forests, recognizing their crucial role as natural carbon sinks. By maintaining FSC® (FSC-C041246) and / or PEFC (PEFC/06-33-92) certifications for over 99 percent of our wood sources, we ensure our operations supports rather than depletes the forests our fibers originates from.
