Benefits

How you benefit from VEOCEL™ Lyocell fibers

Liquid management

VEOCEL™ Lyocell fibers display a uniform distribution of the liquid they absorb, enhancing the liquid management in nonwoven products.

Clean and safe fibers

VEOCEL™ branded fibers are clean and safe and suitable for products that come into contact with skin, as ensured by international standards, tests and industry-wide recognized certifications¹.

Wood-based

Wood-based VEOCEL™ fibers are derived from renewable wood sources, and are biodegradable and compostable², thus offering an alternative to fossil-based synthetic fibers.

Biodegradability

Derived from the natural material — wood, VEOCEL™ Lyocell fibers are biodegradable in soil, freshwater and marine conditions and compostable under industrial and home conditions, and can fully return to nature³.

Gentle on skin

VEOCEL™ Lyocell fibers are gentle on skin and naturally smooth, providing comfort for skin.

Responsible production

VEOCEL™ branded fibers are manufactured with high production standards with low emissions to air and water, thereby safeguarding resources for future generations⁴.

Great wet strength

VEOCEL™ Lyocell fibers are versatile and distinguished by their great strength among cellulosic fibers. They can be used to produce lightweight nonwoven fabrics that exhibit great tensile strength in both dry and wet states.

Fragrance-free fibers

The odor neutrality of VEOCEL™ Lyocell fibers supports the trend towards fragrance-reduced wipes and makes the use of masking agents in nonwoven products unnecessary.

Applications

Explore the key applications of VEOCEL™ Lyocell fibers

Taking regulations and green claims seriously

Adhering to regulations is key in the fast-changing and complex environment for claims. That’s why we have a process in place, factoring in rapidly-evolving regulatory requirements when developing and updating the claims. With our QR-coded claims and updated webpage, we provide more clarity on what our fibers offer to conscious partners and consumers.

Technologies

Advanced technologies for VEOCEL™ Lyocell fibers

Disperse technology

VEOCEL™ Lyocell fibers with Disperse technology are short cellulosic fibers, designed to be used for flushable products where they contribute to high dispersibility and biodegradability².

Dry technology

Dry Technology allows VEOCEL™ Lyocell fibers to achieve liquid-controlling properties. With a performance enhancing treatment and fibers derived from responsibly managed wood sources⁵, consumers can experience impeccable dryness and next-to-skin comfort.

Micro technology

VEOCEL™ Lyocell fibers using Micro technology are fine cellulosic fibers derived from responsibly managed wood sources⁵, and are best suited for lightweight fabrics with high opacity and great strength. Among the VEOCEL™ Lyocell fiber portfolio, Micro technology offers the finest fiber types.

Translucency technology

VEOCEL™ Lyocell fibers with the patented Translucency technology are especially designed for facial sheet masks. Facial sheet masks made with VEOCEL™ Lyocell fibers x Translucency technology become translucent when infused with serum.

Manufacturing process

VEOCEL™ Lyocell fibers have gained a commendable reputation for their environmentally responsible, closed loop production process, which transforms wood pulp into cellulosic fibers using a highly resource-efficient process with low ecological impact. Within this solvent-spinning process, the process water is recycled, and the solvent is recovered at a rate of more than 99%.

⁴ These results were calculated using the Higg Materials Sustainability Index (Higg MSI) tools provided by the Sustainable Apparel Coalition. The Higg MSI tools assess impacts of materials from cradle-to-gate for a finished material (e.g. to the point at which the materials are ready to be assembled into a product). However, this figure only shows impacts from cradle to fiber production gate. VEOCEL™ branded fibers’ LCA results are represented by TENCEL™/ ECOVERO™ data based on Higg MSI database v3.7 (December, 2023).
