Nonwoven fibers
LENZING™ Lyocell fibers – where performance meets quality
ABOUT LENZING™ LYOCELL
LENZING™ Lyocell nonwoven fibers from Lenzing are engineered for performance and sustainability. With unique physical properties, they deliver continuous high quality and versatility.
Their high tenacity profile, fiber strength, and suitability for food contact¹ make them ideal for industrial applications such as tea bags, coffee pods, filter media, and electrical separators.
Benefits
How you benefit from LENZING™ Lyocell fibers
Wood-based
LENZING™ Lyocell fibers are wood-based, derived from renewable wood sources through a pulping process and finally made into fibers.
Biodegradability
LENZING™ Lyocell fibers are biodegradable in soil, freshwater and marine conditions and compostable under industrial and home conditions, and can fully return to nature.²
Fibrillation
In addition to their manufactured form, LENZING™ Lyocell fibers can also be fibrillated to generate sub-micron diameter fibrils to modify sheet microstructure.
Thermal stability
LENZING™ Lyocell fibers exhibit good thermal stability amongst cellulosic fibers. Their non-melting behavior and lack of embrittlement at low temperatures ensure their performance is maintained across the entire ambient temperature range.
Strength
LENZING™ Lyocell fibers are versatile and distinguished by their high tenacity profile among cellulose fibers.
Chemical resistance
LENZING™ Lyocell fibers are resistant to chemical degradation by fuels and oils, commonly used and found in the automotive industry.
Blending partner
LENZING™ Lyocell fibers are versatile and can be combined with wood pulp and a wide range of fibers such as cotton, polyester, polyamide, and glass with regard to their performance and functionality.
Suitable for food contact
LENZING™ Lyocell nonwoven fibers are tested³ to be compliant for food contact¹, as confirmed by ISEGA certification and tests done at SQTS (Swiss Quality Testing Service).

Manufacturing process
LENZING™ Lyocell fibers have gained a commendable reputation for their environmentally responsible, closed loop production process, which transforms wood pulp into cellulosic fibers using a highly resource-efficient process with low ecological impact. Within this solvent-spinning process, the process water is recycled, and the solvent is recovered at a rate of more than 99 percent.
