LENZING™ Acetic Acid Biobased: food-grade acetic acid from wood
ABOUT THE PRODUCT
First things first: According to a third-party Life Cycle Assessment, LENZING™ Acetic Acid Biobased has a carbon footprint of 0.18 kg CO₂-eq. per kg of acetic acid, compared with 1.29 kg CO₂-eq. per kg for the defined generic fossil-based acetic acid benchmark. This corresponds to less than 15 percent of the benchmark value.³
Produced as part of Lenzing’s biorefinery process, LENZING™ Acetic Acid Biobased is purified in several steps, with the majority processed into food-grade acetic acid with a characteristic fruity smell. It is used in applications across various industries, including food processing, pharmaceuticals, textiles, animal feed and chemicals. LENZING™ Acetic Acid Biobased is available in different concentrations, typically ranging from 60 to 100 percent.
