LENZING™ Acetic Acid Biobased: food-grade acetic acid from wood
ABOUT THE PRODUCT
First things first: The carbon footprint of Lenzing’s biobased acetic acid is less than 15 percent that of fossil-based acetic acid (CO₂ footprint generic acetic acid 1.29 kg CO/kg; LENZING™ Acetic Acid Biobased 0.18 kg CO/kg). This has been confirmed by an expert, third-party Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) report.
A biorefinery product of pulp production, LENZING™ Acetic Acid Biobased is purified in several steps, resulting in a food-grade acetic acid with a characteristic fruity smell. It also plays key roles in various industries, from pharmaceuticals to textiles to animal feed, and as a primary chemical. LENZING™ Acetic Acid Biobased is available in a range of concentrations, typically between 60 and 100 percent.
