Wood – our passion

Wood is a valuable, naturally renewable raw material and the starting point of the Lenzing Group’s fiber production. The first production step for fibers of botanic origin i.e. the sustainable production of pulp takes place in Paskov.

We convert wood and wood chips from controlled and sustainable forestry into high quality products. In doing so, we fulfill the high standards of the Lenzing Group: with respect to sustainable wood sourcing, the production with closed production cycles to the greatest possible extent and as an important employer in the region (North Moravia).

From paper – to a dissolving wood pulp plant

The production of pulp has a long tradition at the Paskov site due to the abundance of wood in the Czech Republic. Today’s plant was put into operation in 1983 as a paper pulp plant. Lenzing transformed the facility into a modern biorefinery for high-grade dissolving wood pulp thanks to three-digit million euro in investments.

About three-quarters of the raw material wood for Paskov comes from the Czech Republic. Spruce wood is primarily used – exclusively from controlled and sustainable forestry.

Energy self-sufficient production

Today Lenzing Biocel Paskov is almost self-sufficient in terms of electricity and process heat. The required energy comes from wood biomass. Excess energy is fed into the local public grid. The biorefinery in Paskov is a showcase company for the optimal material use of the renewable raw material wood.
