Our performance under scrutiny
We are not driven by awards and external recognition. Nonetheless, we are proud of the recognition our efforts and achievements in sustainability received by world-leading ESG rating agencies and certificate authorties.
Our certifications, ESG ratings and audits are important to us. They serve as the basis for us to ensure transparency, and above all confidence in our promise to produce in a sustainable and high-quality manner - and also to responsibly deal with the precious resources of our Earth and to protect the environment.
ESG ratings
Our ESG ratings create transparency and show that not only we think our performance is good, but that external agencies and institutions also give us good marks in many areas.

European Ecolabel
Lenzing was the very first fiber producer worldwide to be awarded the EU Ecolabel for textile products in 2002.
The EU Ecolabel – initiated by the European Comission - is an environmental quality seal for the labelling of products and services which show a lower environmental impact and health burden over their entire life cycle than comparable products.
The formulation of criteria for awarding the EU Ecolabel takes place through consultation with key stakeholders, including consumer associations and experts in the relevant field. The criteria are determined on a scientific basis.
Lenzing is obliged to fulfill strict criteria for the EU-Ecolabel.This relates to the main environmental impacts of the product and their technical performance, including health, safety, social and ethical aspects. In addition, various aspects of the life cycle analysis (LCA) are also taken into consideration.
Lyocell, modal and viscose fibers from Lenzing are available with the flower logo. They were examined by independent experts to ensure conformity with the stringent environmental and performance criteria.
USDA Certified Biobased Product
Biobased products are created on the basis of renewable resources such as materials from agriculture, the sea and the forests, and offer an alternative to products on a crude oil basis. The certification of biobased products is part of the BioPreferred program of the U.S. Department of Agriculture. It is designed to encourage government institutions and companies to purchase products which are biobased or consist of biological materials for the most part. All listed Lenzing fibers contain 100 percent USDA Certified Biobased Content.
