Lenzing AG - Attempt to Set a World Record "The Longest Lyocell Quilt in the World"
25.04.2003
"Celebrating Records" at Lenzing
Lenzing AG will not only celebrate its 65th anniversary but also the production of 5 million tons of fibers at the Lenzing site. These two events serve as an occasion to stage a celebration of the records, together with customers and staff members, from 8 to 10 May 2003. One highlight of the celebrations will be the attempt to set a world record with the "longest Lyocell quilt in the world".
"The Longest Lyocell Quilt in the World"
After attempting to set a record, the entire length of the quilt will be cut up into several hundreds of individual quilts, which will be made available to charitable institutions. Prof. Dr. Poigenfürst, the Viennese accident surgeon, will be one of the persons to receive blankets for his new accident hospital in Timisoara/ Romania - a project that he has implemented at his own initiative. Another major number of quilts will be sent to Caritas Romania, which operates a night asylum for homeless persons, as well as many other facilities for the needy.
With Garanta, Germany, we have found a competent partner for the project. The company accepted to produce the over-size, extra-long quilt. The cover is made of Modal MICRO, and the quilt is filled with Lenzing Lyocell® fibers, the latest and most innovative product made by Lenzing AG.
On account of its extremely good moisture management, Lenzing Lyocell® FILL, which was used as filling fiber, is the ideal fiber for bedding products. Lenzing Lyocell® is manufactured from wood, applying an environmentally friendly process, and is therefore a 100% natural, bio-degradable fiber. When comparing Lenzing Lyocell® to other materials, it has a high insulating capacity. Quilts, made of Lenzing Lyocell®, are therefore very thin, but still the warmest.
In addition to many other colorful program features, offered on the day of the attempt to set a record, an avantgarde brass-band event will take place at 15.00 hrs., in which Lenzing AG's music band will play together with the Nouvelle Cuisine big band (Christian Mühlbacher, Christoph Cech and Bertl Müller), one of the most progressive European big bands. The program "Spinning together" will offer brass-band music of a different type.

Meeting of Textile Experts at Schloß Fuschl
A top-level seminar is organized for international customers at Hotel Schloß Fuschl, Salzburg, on 8 and 9 May. More than 300 customers have already announced their participation and will use the occasion to meet with colleagues from the textile industry.
The technical program of the seminar covers current issues in textile marketing and focuses, in particular, on sustainability – a subject that is becoming increasingly important for the textile industry. Hannelore Veit, the ORF anchorwoman, will moderate the session on sustainability, as well as a podium discussion among experts.
Show Program and Open HouseIn addition to the “record party” with show program at Lenzing on Friday evening, 9 May, for customers, VIPs and friends, staff members are also invited to attend a dinner party in the marquee on two evenings, followed by a show program that is being produced especially for the occasion.
Most of the friends and relatives of staff members, who do not work at Lenzing AG, know the company's premises only from the outside. In the course of an "Open House" they will have the opportunity to go on a 2 ½-hour tour through the plant and take "a look behind the scenes".
