Lenzing Lyocell as Sponsor, Ecological Alternative and Partner
WWF Austria (World Wide Fund for Nature) will celebrate its 40-year anniversary these days. Lenzing Lyocell is one of the main sponsors of the festivities: The point of departure for the cooperation with WWF Austria is Lyocell, the environmentally friendly fiber which is an ecological alternative for the textile industry.
With its program, the WWF shows up a number of global challenges. Lenzing Lyocell, the fiber, meets the highest standards of environmental protection and presents itself as an ecological aalternative for several groups of topics which the WWF has recognized as being important:
- Lyocell is manufactured from wood - a renewable raw material.
- A highly modern process, which was awarded the EU's Eco-Label, consisting of a closed production circuit (99.5%) makes Lenzing Lyocell an alternative that is environmentally friendly.
- Lenzing Lyocell uses only a fraction of the water quantity that is needed for the production of other fibers. Especially this year, which the United Nations have proclaimed to be the "International Year of Potable Water" this is a subject of topical interest.
As a result, Lenzing Lyocell can present itself as a suitable partner for WWF Austria, since it is looking for answers to the issue of "ecological footprints - living at the expense of others".
