Lenzing AG: Donation for Prof. Poigenfürst - Quilts for Timisoara
18.06.2003
In the next few days, the longest Lyocell quilt in the world (759 m long), which Lenzing AG presented to the public in May of this year, will embark on its journey to Romania.
Last Monday, Franz Raninger, Managing Board Member responsible for fibers, officially handed over the record-setting quilt to Prof. Johannes Poigenfürst, the Viennese accident surgeon, who received the quilts as a donation for his new accident hospital in Timisoara, Romania - a project that he has implemented at his own initiative. Another approximately 400 quilts will be given to Caritas Romania which, among other things, operates a night asylum for homeless persons, as well as many other facilities for the needy.
On account of its extremely good moisture management, Lenzing Lyocell® FILL, which was used as filling fiber, is the ideal fiber for bedding products. Lenzing Lyocell® is manufactured from wood, applying an environmentally friendly process, and is therefore a 100% natural, bio-degradable fiber. When comparing Lenzing Lyocell® to other materials, it has a high insulating capacity. Quilts, made of Lenzing Lyocell®, are therefore very thin, but still the warmest.
