Hubert Gantioler ran the London Marathon and Hilly® launched the Mono Skin™ Supreme Profilen socks.

Lenzing Plastics sent Hubert Gantioler to the “London Marathon” in April 2006. He wore our Lenzing PROFILEN® marathon t-shirt and the Mono Skin™ Profilen socks from the Hilly Clothing Company. Hubert Gantioler finished at the 275th place with a time of 2 hours 42 minutes and 45 seconds.
48,000 runners registered for the race and approximately 37,000 took part in this great event. For most of the runners, running at the London Marathon is much more than about time. It is about participating in one of the greatest events in the world, running in a magnificent city, and experiencing ½ million spectators offering shouts of encouragement and congratulations!

Hubert Gantioler finished at the 275th place with a time of 2 hours 42 minutes and 45 seconds. He wore a Lenzing PROFILEN® t-shirt and socks to protect his skin against irritation during that rainy day. Numerous runners suffered from bleeding nipples and blistered feet. The skin irritation dramatically increased due to the perspiration and rain. A lot of runners put protective creams on the friction areas, however, the rain and friction washed away most of the cream, thus removing the film protection. Hubert did not suffer from any skin irritation!

The Hilly Clothing Company is based in the UK, specialising in running apparel. The company was founded by Dr. Ron Hill, who has been a club runner since 1954. Winning both the European and Commonwealth with gold medals, he completed 115 marathons, including the Tokyo and Munich Olympic Games. He held the world records for 10 miles, 15 miles, 25 km, the British record for 20 km in one hour, and the world’s best 20 miles on the road. He is currently the world record holder for uninterrupted training, running at least once a day everyday since 1964 covering over 143,000 miles. He has competed in 85 different countries and aiming to compete in 100 before the age of 70. Needless to mention, that when Hilly® chose Lenzing PROFILEN® yarn for their high performance socks, we felt a great sense of accomplishment.
