Pilot Plant - Thermoplastics
For products from the thermoplastics range all main production processes are available in small scale in our thermoplastics pilot plant. Unstretched or monoaxially stretched films and tapes can be processed according to the water quench- blow- or chill process. Coatings and laminates of flexible films and webs can be produced by extrusion or adhesion methods.
Special processing steps, such as batching, foaming, co-extrusion, stretching, thermosetting or surface treatments characterize the technologies of Lenzing Plastics. Together with the raw material selection of thermoplastics, additives, adhesives and the backing materials on rolls, a nearly unlimited spectrum of product variations is available.
Customer requests and new ideas can be realized from the processing technology, hand samples and sample rolls up to small quantities. A small test laboratory on site with special measuring methods, as for example DSC, colour measurement, UV-aging, or fire tests supports the applications-oriented product development.
After the first tests in the thermoplastics pilot plant, the new products are brought up to production level in a standardized scale-up production process.
Pilot Plant - PTFE
PFTE films, fibres and yarns are produced in two different ways: the split-/peel process and the paste extrusion method.
Due to the dynamic and individual development of the Lenzing Plastics production process the new products are mainly developed directly on these production units.
Development and production are thus closely linked and the scale up to production can be carried out smoothly and quickly. Quality control is integrated in this development group, equipped with modern instruments for determining the physical product characteristics.
