The aim of quality control in Lenzing Plastics lies in the three main requirements:

  • to secure the quality of the raw material delivery
  • to determine the main product characteristics for controlling the production and
  • to determine the quality of the end product and present it to the customer, for example, in the form of company certificates.

Deviations from the defined specifications are determined and failures and non-conforming products are treated in defined processes. In the field of thermoplastics as also in the PTFE field Lenzing Plastics employs trained staff to carry out these tasks. In addition, the staff at the production units determine, in terms of self-control, some of the product-relevant properties.

The following typical testing methods are available:

ThermoplasticsPTFE
  • coating adhesion
  • flexural strength
  • width, thickness (profile), yarn count, mass per unit area
  • DSC
  • puncture resistance
  • colorimetry
  • hot air shrinkage
  • surface tension
  • peel strength
  • tensile impact strength
  • melt flow rate
  • sealing strength
  • water vapour transmission
  • water transmission
