With Lenzing Modal® there is nature in each and every fiber. It is quite simply botanic. It comes from nature and returns to nature. Lenzing Modal® is synonymous with feeling good – and not only next to the skin!

Environmental competence

The Lenzing Modal® production process is unique in the plant world. During production, the pulp which is used is made by Lenzing itself. Thus Lenzing can control the entire process. In this way all of the process steps can guarantee the best use of energy and attain the highest recovery rates. Integrated process management makes it possible to extract various potential recyclables from the tree. Acetic acid is extracted for the production of food stuffs or xylose for sweetening agent production. Another secondary product is sodium sulphate which is used when making glass.

Better for the environment

Lenzing Modal® has a very low impact on the environment if compared with cotton for example. The yield by acre of Lenzing Modal® is up to six times higher and the water required is 10 to 20 times lower than with cotton*. Moreover beech wood forests, the natural raw material for Lenzing Modal®, grow in a completely natural way. Beech wood is not grown on forestry plantations. The stock of beech wood is obtained as a result of “rejuvenation”.

The Botanic Fiber

From beech wood to fiber. With Lenzing Modal® you can feel it immediately: the fiber originates in beech wood forests and uses photosynthesis which has been an important natural mechanism since the beginning of time. Photosynthesis represents the basis for Lenzing Modal®. Beech wood forests occur frequently in Northern and Central Europe where they have shaped the landscape of these regions for centuries. They are, therefore, a completely natural and sustainable source of raw material.
