In Detail
The pulper is a mixing tank fed by the pulp feeder, where the pulp is mixed with a defined quantity of soda lye.
The use of a special turbine impeller (1) ensures optimum penetration of the caustic into the pulp to minimise energy consumption and unnecessary depolymerization of the cellulose, which would result in the production of short fibres, with a consequent loss of cellulose as well as loss of required product properties.
The pulper is designed with a mixer (1) on the bottom side driven by an electric motor (2) via a V-belt system (3). On the bottom side are a series of sieve plates (4) to ensure that no undisolved particles in the soda lye pass to the next process step.
We offer some standard sizes of the pulper, but the equipment can also be manufactured according to the individual production requirements of our customers. The pulper can be operated either continuously or batchwise. Lenzing Technik recommends continuous operation.
