Alkalizing

Dissolving grade pulp, the raw material is brought to reaction with sodium hydroxide (NaOH) of a certain concentration to produce alkali-cellulose (AC).

Alkalizing

By means of a Pulp sheet feeder (1) the Pulp is continuously fed to a Pulper (2) and mixed with caustic soda (steeping lye).

The Pulper is equipped with an impeller, located at the bottom.

This impeller tears and shreds the pulp and mixes it with the lye to a homogeneous slurry. The slurry is filled into a slurry tank.

A Slurry pump (3) pumps the slurry continuously to the AC Press (4), which separates the alkali-cellulose from the press lye.

The fiber content in the press lye needs to be separated, which is done by a so called Press lye filter (6).

According to the required Hemicellulose content in the steeping lye, the filtered presslye can be treated in a Dialysis (7).

The alkali-cellulose fleece is broken up in two stages, first in a Pre shredder and then in a Fine shredder (5).
