Lenzing AG Receives Vöckla Award for the Third Time

The Vöckla Award bestowed by the regional TV station BTV Vöcklabruck honors prominent people in the region each year as well as associations and companies in recognition of their achievements. Within the context of an event held at the Varena Vöcklabruck, Lenzing AG was granted the “Vöckla” in the category Large Companies. Thus this year’s prize is the third time in which Lenzing was given an award in different categories.
Lenzing AG with its close to 3,000 employees is a flagship company in the Vöcklabruck region. The economic success of the firm in the entire world also has a positive impact on the Vöcklabruck area. Lenzing provides important impetus and helps to safeguard jobs in the region.
2010 marked a record year for the company. In addition to its positive performance indicators, Lenzing’s strategy also attracted considerable attention. The investment program totaling about EUR 1.5 bill. until the year 2014 and the increased presence on the Vienna Stock Exchange were among the factors recognized by the prominent jury as the basis for bestowing the Vöckla Award.
Management Board member Friedrich Weninger accepted the award on Lenzing’s behalf from Viktor Sigl, Councillor for Economic Affairs of Upper Austria. “This award once again demonstrates that the growth strategy we have persistently pursued in recent years and will continue to implement in the years to come is the right path for us to take. For Lenzing AG, the recognition of its achievements in its surrounding regional environment is an important factor. For this reason we are particularly pleased to receive this prize”, Friedrich Weninger says.
A jury consisting experts from the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber and media representatives selected prize winners to bestow the Vöckla Award in 12 different categories – value generator, life’s work, culture, sports, culinary enjoyment, small-sized enterprises, large companies, social involvement and voluntary work.
