Vienna Stock Exchange Award: Lenzing among the leading sustainable companies

Tuesday, 01. June 2010

The Vienna Stock Exchange Award 2010 recognizes performance in the four categories ATX, Small & Mid Cap, Corporate Governance and Sustainability.

At the third occasion in the history of the sustainability award Lenzing received the second prize in this category. Lenzing's CEO Peter Untersperger, comments: "We are a commercially successful and expanding company. Our corporate strategy is in synchrony with sustainability. It is our road to the future – last but not least because more and more customers in the textile and nonwovens industry demand ecologically sound and sustainable products. Our strategy is based on the renewable raw material wood, ecologically responsible production processes, continuous innovation and social responsibility."

Category Sustainability evaluates 100 criteria or 400 indicators, respectively. Among the sources are public and specific corporate reports, as well as secondary sources, such as media reports. Companies are considered sustainable if they are actively committed to their shareholders and do not belong to any sectors such as armaments, nuclear energy, addictive drugs, genetic engineering and gambling.

The winners of the four categories are Andritz, Immofinanz, Verbund and Bene.
